Green/White Check Sheer Day Dress

SOLD

This gown is made of a lovely sheer green and white checked cotton. The bodice is gathered at the waist with a cotton fitted half-high lining. The lining closes with hooks and eyes as well as at the waistband and neck of the outside sheer fabric. I do not use hook and eye tape on my garments. Each hook and eye are hand sewn in place as they were done in the period. Hook and eye tape can be seen on a smaller majority of surviving garments and it is quite a bit different than what you can find today so I have decided not to use it on my reproductions. The waist, armscyes and neckline are all piped with narrow cord enclosed in the dress fabric. The coat sleeves are gathered in the back at the armscyes to add extra fullness and for a little added decoration there is a bias ruffle of fabric on the outside seam of each sleeve. The skirt is knife pleated to the waistband and is neatly hand stitched in place. I will hem the skirt to your desired length. All this gown needs to be complete is the addition of a crisp white collar and cuffs.
