1st Annual 1860's Christmas Ball

This is a ball I put on, although I had A LOT of help from others! This was basically put on for our Ladies' 1860's Society as well as a home school group most of us are apart of. I knew some dances and so I held dance practices before the ball so that those who did not know them, would be able to dance at the ball. Luckily, I know a lady that has taken ballet for most of her life and she helped a tremendous amount with teaching the dances.

Since putting on this first ball, we have continued to have dance practices and we are learning many new and more authentic dances from original dance manuals of the era. Dancing is now one of my favorite things to do! It's not only fun, but it's also wonderful exercise!!
