Fort Snelling Reenactment

This reenactment was a lot of fun to attend! The reenactment was in historic Fort Snelling. Most of the buildings have been rebuilt, but there are still a few that are originals. To learn more about the fort, go to Historic Fort Snelling.

There was a building that the ladies made into a Soldier's Aid Fair workroom. In this room the ladies would be making things to sell at a fair that was to be held later that week. In a room next to this was used as a Soldier's Rest. This is where soldiers would come and write letters to their loved ones or meet their family if they came to visit and take a short rest while drinking some cool lemonade and eating a cookie the ladies provided for them. There were also various other activities going on throughout the day. My friend and I spent most of our time in those two rooms, though.

In the evening there were several Tableaux Vignettes and a theatrical called Box and Cox. Incidentally, this was the same play that was performed at the Winter Weekend and put on by the same group of people that put on the Winter Weekend. If you have never seen this play, it is hilarious! The actors and actresses were wonderful at their parts! We had quite a good time!
