Mason City Reenactment

This was the first year we attended this event. I'm going to say that it wasn't one of the best we have gone to. There wasn't anything to do, except walk around and shop, which gets rather monotonous after doing that at about every reenactment. We did have a good time being together and dressing in period clothing for a day, though. The "ball" which I prefer to call a barn dance, was held outside on a cracked slab of cement that grass and weeds had been growing through. The majority of the people that came wore 80's prom dresses and you could smell a distinct alcohol smell on the guys there. I saw one of the ladies recording the dance  while holding a cigarette in one hand and the camera in the other. The whole thing, I'm sorry to say, was most unpleasant. I wish the men and women that reenact would learn a bit more etiquette of the period.

We did have fun taking some pictures and chatting with another lady that we had met at past reenactments, but I don't know that I would travel to this one again.
