Usher's Ferry 2004

This year at Usher's Ferry we sort of decided to take it easy and as a result, ended up being a little bit farby. As you can see in some of these pictures, we're either consuming modern foods or using modern conveniences. This is a small local event and we all must have been feeling rather silly that weekend. The two "themes" this year was how farby we are and how my friend and I were going to kill each other. Yeah... pretty silly, but we had fun. Everyone was so busy with life this year, that we didn't have time to figure out what we were going to do for this event. As most events like this don't have any activities, if you want to actually do something you have to plan something yourself. So, this year we didn't really have anything planned. We just walked around, talked with some reenactor friends who also come to this event each year, sang in the church for a while and then went to the farb... I mean barn dance that evening. :-) It was fun, although I must say that there has been a lot more weirdos that come to the dance then there has in the past. Although, maybe it's been the same and I've just not noticed it. There was a lot of under aged drinking going on. Oh and guys, do you have to come to the dance with blood dripping down the side of your mouth and blood all over your shirt?! I mean, come on! You could at least come wearing a clean shirt. One problem with this dance, is that there is hardly any room to dance in. It's outside under one of those picnic type shelters. You have to get there at the very beginning if you want to actually dance without bumping into everyone. They always start it out with a polka, so my friends and I danced to that. Since no one there knows it, we pretty much had the whole floor to ourselves. That was probably the best dance the whole evening. They don't even know how to play a good waltz. They're all too slow and they work well only for a modern waltz, not mid 19th century. Oh, well... I don't expect much at these dances, so it's not a huge deal. Have fun looking at the pictures, but I warn you, they are very silly.
