Katie's Dobby Silk Ball Gown

This ball gown is made of a dobby silk taffeta. (This is the same fabric used for Laura's dress.) It's such a rich fabric that it really doesn't need much trimming. I made it for my sister and she doesn't like a lot of trimming anyway, so we kept it simple. The sleeves are simply small puffed sleeves and a white net tucker was added to the neckline. Tuckers should be worn with every ball gown. It can be made of cotton or silk netting and has a drawstring encased in it so that you can slightly adjust the fit of the neckline. It also acts like a collar would in that you can remove it for frequent washings.

It is fastened in the back with hand worked eyelets. A tiny cord is threaded through these and tied at the end.
